Your face stays with you.

Selected and pasted photos are processed in your browser. We do not upload your photos, face landmarks, or face embeddings. Clearing photos releases the app's references to them.

Game progress and sharing

Daily games use licensed public portraits with attribution, precomputed model distances, and facial alignment landmarks. These public game assets are separate from photos you choose or paste, which stay in your browser. Face embeddings are never saved.

Practice keeps its session ID and progress in session storage in your current browser tab; practice guesses are not submitted to the community. Your daily challenge ID, guesses, and current round are saved in your browser's local storage so you can finish later. Clearing this site's storage removes that local progress. Completing a new daily game contributes its 15 numeric ratings to the community. Existing completed games contribute only when you choose to add them. No uploaded photos or face embeddings are sent with these ratings.

We store contributed ratings, their challenge ID and submission time on our server, with a random player identifier. A functional, first-party game cookie helps recognize your saved ballot and avoid counting repeat votes. It is not an advertising cookie. Clearing browser storage does not delete a previously contributed server ballot. The community comparison excludes your own vote and updates as other people contribute.

Return and friend-challenge links contain a random receipt ID. Anyone you give one of these links to can view the saved ratings, the public portrait pairs and their current results. Keep a return link private if you do not want to share your takes. These receipts contain no name, email or uploaded photo, and are marked not to be indexed by search engines.

Basic website analytics

When analytics is enabled, we use Umami to count visits and actions such as starting or finishing a game, choosing an activity, and copying or sharing a scorecard. We also count comparison successes and failures, without sending the result or the error message.

Analytics does not receive your photos, face data, guesses, scores, filenames, or the contents of shared links. We send the referring website's origin only, without its path or query. Umami can report general traffic information such as browser, device, language, and approximate location from the request. Network requests necessarily reach Umami's infrastructure. We do not enable analytics cookies, session recordings, heatmaps, or advertising tracking. We respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control browser signals. Analytics is disabled on localhost and unconfigured deployments; blocking it does not prevent playing.

Hosting and public portraits

Our host processes ordinary requests to deliver the website and may keep access logs, including network information and requested URLs. The daily game uses stored, licensed public portraits with credits available in the game. These are separate from your photos.
